About

I am a photographic artist and visual studies researcher. Bulgarian-born, via Latin America, I now split my time between Dallas, TX and Milan, Italy.

As an artist, I work in both black & white film and digital formats, in traditional and experimental processes, to make tactile works and immersive installations. My photographic interest is the human experience of memory and self-fashioning of identity.

As a researcher, I am interested in the museum and the archive as metaphors for social and artistic expression.

My photographs have won awards locally and nationally. They have been exhibited in non-profit, commercial and university galleries in solo and juried group exhibitions and are part of the collections of  Fort Wayne Museum of Art,  The Human Rights Art Collection at South Texas College and the Embassy of Bulgaria in Washington, DC. I hold an MFA in photography from the University of North Texas and am currently pursuing a PhD in visual art studies/art education.

Along with several photography projects I am currently working on, I lead the Third Eye Workshops, photography workshops for kids in Roma/Gypsy communities in Bulgaria. Their goal is to empower marginalized children by giving them the tools of confident self expression and to make their point of view known to society in general. Your contribution, in used digital cameras, interest, smiles or other support, is welcome and appreciated!
